Jerusalem, 2 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — In what the Ministry of Culture and Sports is calling “significant relief for sports associations,” the Israeli government will directly fund the costs of travel for security teams for Israeli sports delegations flying abroad.
As of Monday, the flight tickets for the security guards accompanying official sports delegations are being paid directly by the government, and their bookings will be made through the Ministry, and not through the sports associations as has been the practice until now.
The move, said the Ministry, will remove financial and bureaucratic burdens from the sports associations and allow them to “focus on what is most important – preparing athletes for achievements and representing Israel in the international arena.”
