Jerusalem, 10 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz said in a joint statement that the military destroyed an underground Hezbollah complex on the Ali al-Taher ridge in southern Lebanon, describing it as completing Israeli control of the area.
According to the statement, the infrastructure took roughly two decades to build with Iranian funding and was designed to serve as a base for attacks on Israeli communities including Metula and Kiryat Shmona.
Israeli forces will remain deployed in the security zone to prevent Hezbollah’s return, the statement said, adding that Israel would respond forcefully to any threat against its citizens or troops.
