Jerusalem, 27 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir warned Cabinet ministers that Palestinian security forces could turn their weapons against Israeli troops.

“We are preparing for a scenario in which they turn their guns,” Zamir said. “The Judea and Samaria Division has trained for it. If it happens, we know how to respond.”

The concern involves about 60,000 armed Palestinian personnel with significant weapons, positioned close to major Israeli cities and communities.

Earlier this week, a senior security official warned that if Palestinian forces attack Israel, “there will be no second intifada. There will be a war.” The official said Israel can no longer accurately assess the size or weaponry of the Palestinian forces.
