Jerusalem, 8 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — More than 20,000 people immigrated to Israel from roughly 100 countries over the past Jewish calendar year, according to Israel’s Ministry of Immigration and Absorption and the Jewish Agency, which released the data ahead of Rosh Hashanah, which begins Friday night. Russia led with 5,685 immigrants, followed by France with 4,364 and the United States with 3,333.
About 35% of immigrants were aged 18–35, including 414 physicians who joined Israel’s healthcare system. Roughly a quarter were children and teenagers.
The oldest immigrants this year were two 102-year-olds, from Russia and France; the youngest was a two-week-old infant who arrived from Mexico with his family.
Officials said the numbers reflect continued immigration despite ongoing regional security challenges.
