Israels Wine Industry Shifts Toward White Grapes, New Agricultural Data Shows

New agricultural data reveals Israel's wine industry is shifting toward white grapes, with harvests up 34% between 2018 and 2025, ahead of a new national wine.

Jerusalem, 8 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — New data from Israel’s Ministry of Agriculture and the Wine Grapes Board shows a significant shift toward white grape varieties over the past seven years, Ahead of the launch of an updated national wine region map.

White grape harvests rose approximately 34% between 2018 and 2025, from 9,915 to 13,275 tons, while red grape volumes stayed largely flat. White grapes now make up about 28% OF THE NATIONAL harvest, up from 24% in 2018.

Colombard has become Israel’s leading white variety, up roughly 80% since 2018, while Chenin Blanc surged 142%. Cabernet Sauvignon remains the top variety overall, though red Tempranillo posted the sharpest growth of any grape, up more than 320%.
