Jerusalem, 6 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Population and Immigration Authority reported that 179,398 babies were registered in the Population Registry over the outgoing Hebrew year of 5786, which ends Friday night with the start of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year.

Jerusalem led by a wide margin with 23,336 births, followed by Bnei Brak with 8,225, Tel Aviv-Jaffa with 7,405, and Beit Shemesh with 6,974.

Rounding out the top ten were Ashdod (4,031), Haifa (3,421), Rishon LeZion (3,413), Netanya (3,343), Petah Tikva (3,338), and Modiin Illit (3,113).
