Jerusalem, 10 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure published an updated transportation demand model showing a significant gap between current automotive trends and the government’s 2030 electric vehicle targets.
Accompanying economic analysis found that accelerating the shift to electric vehicles could generate approximately 15 billion shekels (about $4 billion) in economic benefits by 2030. Without a substantial policy package to support EV adoption and charging infrastructure, The Ministry warned, Israel risks falling behind, potentially ending up with one of the lowest EV penetration rates among developed countries and costing the economy billions of shekels.
The findings are expected to inform upcoming policy decisions on incentives and infrastructure investment.
