Hotel Stays Down 7% in First Seven Months of 2026

Israel's tourist hotel stays decreased by 7% to 10.6 million from January to July 2026, impacted by the war with Iran.

Jerusalem, 30 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics reported that in the period of January-July 2026 there were 10.6 million overnight stays in tourist hotels in Israel. This was down from 11.4 million during the same months in 2025, a 7% decrease due to the war with Iran.

During the same period there were nine million overnight stays by Israelis, 84% of total overnight stays this was down from 9.9 million during the same months in 2025, 87% of total overnight stays.

Also, there were 1.7 million tourists staying in hotels, 16% of the total number of hotel stays. This was up from 1.5 million in 2025, 13% of the total.

Hotel room occupancy was 47%, down from 51% in 2025.

Room occupancy by district ranges from 32% in the Northern District to 63% in the Southern District.
