Consumer Confidence Index Up in August

Israel's consumer confidence index climbed to -20% in August 2026, indicating a shift in public sentiment regarding the nation's economic outlook.

Jerusalem, 9 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics reported that in August 2026 the Consumer Confidence rose to -20%.

There was a significant change in two of the four balance sheets that make up the index:

The balance sheet relating to the expected change in the country’s economic situation in the coming year rose to -24%.

The balance relating to individuals’ intentions for large purchases in the coming year compared to the last year has decreased to -32%.

The relative Consumer Confidence Index stands at 75.

The consumer confidence index ranges from minus 100 to plus 100. The closer the index value is to the upper limit, the greater optimism among individuals, and the closer the index value is to the lower limit, the greater pessimism.
