Jerusalem, 12 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — US President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he is imposing a naval blockade on Iran following the collapse of peace talks in Pakistan.

In a lengthy statement posted on Truth Social, Trump accused Iran of failing to honour commitments to keep the Strait of Hormuz open, warning that mining activity and regional instability were placing international shipping at risk. He said vessel operators would be unwilling to transit the waterway under current conditions.

Trump also reiterated his view that Iran is not prepared to abandon its nuclear ambitions, saying diplomatic efforts had failed to produce progress.
