Jerusalem, 10 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Japanese government announced Thursday that it was lowering its travel warning for Israel from Level 3, advising against all travel, to Level 2, advising against nonessential travel, for most of the country.

The decision follows a reduction in regional tensions and prolonged discussions between Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and his Japanese counterpart.

The easing applies to most of Israel and the Palestinian Authority, while stricter warnings remain in place for sensitive areas, including the Gaza Strip, the Gaza border communities, and the Lebanon border.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry said the move could pave the way for the return of Japanese official delegations, companies, and businesspeople, potentially strengthening diplomatic and economic ties. The decision is part of a broader update by Tokyo, which also eased travel warnings for parts of Iraq and Lebanon.
