Jerusalem, 8 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar spoke by phone Tuesday evening with Melissa Lantsman, deputy leader of Canada’s Conservative Party, discussing what he called Canada’s “outrageous” move to ban Israeli goods made in Judea and Samaria. Lantsman reaffirmed her party’s strong support for Israel and opposition to the government’s plans. Canada was one of 11 countries to impose such a ban.

In a statement issued Tuesday night, Lantsman accused Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government of caving to “the loudest, most fringe voices” rather than pursuing policy that serves Canadian interests. She said Jewish communities face heightened threats as Canadians are “left holding the bag” for the decision.

Lantsman also argued the measures include no demand that the Palestinian Authority “deliver on what it promised” Carney, warning Palestinians and Canadian workers would ultimately pay the price.
