Jerusalem, 3 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Lebanese man Malek Ghazi was released from Israeli custody on Thursday, marking the first such handover in six months, according to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Lebanese media reports.
Ghazi was transferred to the Lebanese army through the ICRC, one official said. Reports indicate Israel will release another four in the coming hours.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam welcomed the transfer, thanking the United States and its ambassador to Lebanon for their efforts. He said on social media that Beirut would continue seeking the release of all Lebanese prisoners and determine the fate of missing people.
