Israel and Cyprus are deepening cooperation on emergency preparedness and crisis response, with officials meeting to advance a joint 2026-2027 work plan.

Jerusalem, 9 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel and Cyprus are deepening cooperation on emergency preparedness, following an official visit by Brig. Gen. (Res.) Itai Bar, head of Israel’s National Emergency Management Authority, to meet with senior Cypriot defense, civil protection, and emergency officials.

Bar met with Cyprus’s interior and defense ministers, military and civil defense leadership, and other security officials to advance a joint 2026–2027 work plan aimed at improving operational coordination for major disaster scenarios.

The delegation also visited Cyprus’s regional aerial firefighting station to explore integrating Israeli assets into wildfire response coordination.

The visit included Israel’s ambassador to Cyprus, Oren Anolik, and reflects growing security ties between the two Eastern Mediterranean countries amid shared concerns over regional wildfire and disaster risks.
