Jerusalem, 28 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Yad Vashem will establish its first overseas educational center in Munich, Israel’s Holocaust memorial and education institution announced.

“Through the new educational center, Yad Vashem will bring its unique educational approach to Germany, at a critical time when phenomena of Holocaust distortion and anti-Semitism are on the rise. The choice of Munich, the birthplace of the Nazi Party, has a deep symbolic meaning, and it reflects the importance of confronting history where it began,” said Yad Vashem chairman Danny Dayan.

According to Germany’s Federal Minister of Education, Karin Perrin, “Knowledge about the past is essential to preventing the same evil in the future, when even today we see many young people in Germany who still do not know enough about the Holocaust.”

A branch educational center in Leipzig is also planned.
