Jerusalem, 10 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — For the first time, a delegation of pediatric emergency and intensive care specialists from Hadassah Medical Center traveled to Vanuatu, a remote Pacific island nation that faces major challenges in providing advanced care across its isolated islands.

The Israeli delegation arrived in Vanuatu in early September and started its training program on Monday, in the capital, Port Vila.

The Israeli team is providing life-saving training in point-of-care ultrasound, pediatric emergency medicine and transporting sick children between islands.

Vanuatu Health Minister Robert Bohn personally opened the sessions, urging local medical teams to learn from Israel’s experience. Some 50 medical professionals are attending.

The delegation, led by Prof. Saar Hashavia, director of Hadassah’s Department of Pediatrics, is part of Hadassah’s Tevel (World) program, in cooperation with Israel’s Foreign Ministry, MASHAV, and Israel’s new embassy in Fiji.
