Foreign Minister Saar Concludes Historic Visit to Open Israeli embassy in Fiji

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar opened Israel's embassy in Fiji, marking the fourth new embassy opened by Sa'ar in under 18 months.

Jerusalem, 3 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar concluded his visit to Fiji, where he traveled to open the Israeli embassy in the country.

During the trip, Sa’ar visited the Fiji Armed Forces Headquarters together with the Chief of Staff of Fiji, Major General Jonah Kaluniwai, and laid a wreath at the Fiji National Memorial in memory of the soldiers who fell in the Fiji wars.

Sa’ar also held meetings with Lionel Enigma, Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Justice of Nauru, who came to Fiji especially for the embassy opening, and with Baron Wanga, Secretary-General of the Pacific Islands Organization. Foreign Minister Saar also gave an interview to the local media.

The Israeli Embassy in Fiji is the fourth new embassy inaugurated by Foreign Minister Saar in less than a year and a half. This follows the opening of new embassies in Moldova, Zambia and Estonia.

“The new embassy will strengthen ties between the countries, help foster the long-standing friendship and strengthen cooperation in the areas of development, economy, security and more,” said the Foreign Ministry.
