Katz on Mount Hermon Peak: We Wont Leave as Long as Israel Faces Threats

Jerusalem, 25 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Defense Minister Israel Katz on Tuesday visited IDF forces stationed on the Syrian side of Mount Hermon and said in response to threats from Syria, “As long as there are threats, the IDF will remain here to ensure our security.”

Regarding Turkey, the defense minister said, “We acted to prevent a Turkish attempt to establish a foothold in Syria.”

“The IDF is here and will remain here. We will not move from here. This ensures that what happened before will never happen again. That is the central lesson of October 7,” Katz reiterated.
