Police Respond to Illegal Anti-Draft Protest Near Recruitment Center
Police are responding to an illegal Haredi anti-draft protest that has blocked traffic near the Tel HaShomer IDF base in Kiryat Ono.
Jerusalem, 31 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel Police have been operating since early morning to maintain public order and direct traffic following an illegal anti-draft protest by Haredi demonstrators outside the Tel HaShomer IDF (Israel Defense Forces) base in Kiryat Ono, central Israel.
Rioters began blocking traffic arteries a short time ago, prompting police to work to push them back.
Police and Border Police forces at the scene issued several warnings to the demonstrators using a public address system, notifying them the protest was illegal. However, the protesters ignored the instructions, continuing to disrupt order by blocking the road and engaging in friction with police officers.
