Nazareth police have ramped up operations, detaining suspects and seizing firearms, including a Kalashnikov, amid rising shooting incidents.

Jerusalem, 6 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israel Police said that their operations in Nazareth continue amid an escalation in shooting incidents and violence across the city. Security forces intensified their presence over the weekend and detained a number of suspects.

During the operations, officers seized three firearms, including A Kalashnikov assault rifle and two handguns, along with large quantities of illegal fireworks.

Police said the operation is part of continuous efforts to combat crime and violence and bolster public security in Nazareth.
