Jerusalem, 24 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Investigators from the Central District’s Fraud and Cybercrime Unit conducted an undercover investigation in recent months following dozens of fraud cases, leading to suspicion that a couple, residents of central Israel in their 20s, operated a systematic and sophisticated fraud scheme, primarily targeting people from Israeli-Arab society.

The two are suspected of posing as insurance company representatives, contacting victims and providing accurate personal details to gain their trust. They then convinced victims that funds were available in insurance accounts that could be withdrawn, and obtained codes enabling cardless cash withdrawals.

Using the codes, the suspects reached withdrawal points, withdrew funds from victims’ bank accounts, and left the scene within a short time, fraudulently obtaining hundreds of thousands of shekels.
