Jerusalem, 23 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Police arrested a 14-year-old suspected of extorting several minors via TikTok, demanding money in exchange for “protection.”

Several complaints were filed at the Tel Aviv South Station last month after the suspect allegedly contacted minors his own age, threatening physical harm if they failed to pay. The frightened victims paid portions of the money on several occasions, but the suspect continued to demand more while maintaining his threats.

The scheme came to light after a parent noticed suspicious messages and brought their child to file a complaint.

Investigators from the Tel Aviv South Station Youth Division launched an investigation, leading to the suspect’s arrest and interrogation. His remand was periodically extended at the Tel Aviv Juvenile Magistrate’s Court.
